K-11 : Becoming Readers and Mathematicians

In reading workshop students are learning to become readers. With the launch of our first unit students are developing reading habits, and their identity as a reader. When students read they think about what makes sense and draw on all of them to help them figure out what the words on the page says.

In this session of reading workshop students are independently rereading texts to learn even more.

Students are engaged in partner read as they do a quick retell on what they reread.

In our math lesson students are sorting and classifying related objects based on use. Students are pairing everyday objects such as toothpaste and toothbrush based on their function.
