In writing, we are currently in our persuasive writing unit. Students have begun by writing signs, songs, petitions and now letters about problems they see in their classroom and in their school. We are also addressing problems they identify in their neighborhood. For example, writing a letter to teachers about broken pencils or writing a letter to parents about kids not skipping the lines at the park and coming up with a solution for these problems. At home, students can brainstorm problems and write about them. They can also write how they can fix the problem and try to be really convincing.
