This week Class 201 continued to explore how oil spills impact the environment, human beings, and sea creatures. Our children had a great discussion and jotted down their amazing ideas of how to prevent and stop oil pollution.
To deepen our understanding that water cannot mix with oil, a painting with oil activity was facilitated in the classroom. Our children first began painting with vegetable oil and then placed their paintings in a tray with watercolors. They noticed that the white paper “soaked” up the colors but not the area with oil. Next week, we will explore the impacts of plastic pollution.
