We finished our poem unit for both reading and writing, as well as Module 5 for math. This week, we started new units and are already seeing some progress.
Our new module for math is the “Foundations of Multiplication and Division” and we’re starting off with the formation of equal groups. The students learned how to formed equal groups using repeated addition and tape diagrams.
The new reading unit explores book series and students were assigned series according to their reading level. Our class are learning new skills on how to become expert series readers. They are learning how to become experts on collecting information on main characters and recognizing similarities across the series.
We are starting our new writing unit with opinion pieces. Each of the students wrote different opinions on some of the books we’ve read in the class. We will be working on other types of opinion writing throughout this unit.
