We had our reading and writing celebration two weeks ago and assessed the students on the first two topics of our Math Module 7. Last week we started our non-fiction writing unit and non-fiction reading unit. This week for math, we started Topic C which reinforces the measurement concepts and skills that was learned in Module 2 with a focus on customary units. We also started Topic D where students now explore measurement using both customary and metric units. Both our writing and reading units focuses on non-fiction. The students are now learning how to do research by reading non-fiction books during our Readers workshop and then using what they’ve learned to write their own non-fiction book. Our class has come a long way from when we started in September and as always, we are proud of their progress.
