Hello K/1 families, we are excited to share many updates with you. This month, our students have started a new music residency program. Every Tuesday we have music class with Ms. Rosie. Your children have been practicing learning and singing songs from different countries. Today they learned a song in Spanish called “Pavo, Pavo!” Last week, they learned the French Song “Frere Jacque.” They are having so much fun singing, dancing, and learning about the different notes in music.

In project time, we have started a new unit: Community Heroes! In this unit we are exploring the different attributes of real life heroes. We have been learning that there are so many different people that help keep our community safe, clean, and healthy! This has also been a great time where we get to practice interactive writing with the children. This is when we write pieces together, for example- all about firefighters and other kinds of community heroes.
This week, we also celebrated the ending of our writing units. Kindergarten celebrated their published signs, letters, and petitions where they detailed their problems and possible solutions. First grade celebrated their published book reviews. Both grades are now starting new units. Kindergarten will begin writing true stories and First grade will write fiction stories.
Please be reminded this Friday, March 17th, is a spirit day- wear green!
