Welcome to Ms. Mullany and Ms. D’s 2/3 class! We are very excited to be your child’s teachers this year and we are looking forward to the growth your child will make.
Thank you in advance for all your support this year, as family engagement is critical to your child’s success. Please reach out on Dojo if you have any questions or concerns. Please note that we check Dojo from 8am to 4pm on school days, so we will get back to you the next school day if you send a message outside of those times.
Looking forward to a great year,
Ms. Mullany and Ms. DeDominicis (Ms. D)
Overview of this year
2nd and 3rd grades are a very important time of your child’s development, and this year we will seek to encourage their independence and their sense of responsibility. At home, you can support this by encouraging your child to independently complete their homework, and encouraging them to read for at least 30 minutes each night.
At school, we will study reading, writing, math, science, and will frequently engage in projects that will allow students to explore the world around them. We will also have PE and art each week, so please make sure that your child is dressed in comfortable clothing that can get dirty, and shoes that they can run in.
School Day: Arrival is at 8:25. Breakfast is at 8:10, but due to the need to maintain a safe social distance, we can only accommodate students who are eating at that time. Dismissal will be at 2:50 every day.
Covid Protocol: Families must complete health screening before arrival. Students must wear masks at all times in the building. We will use hand sanitizer frequently throughout the day.
Lunch/ Snack: Lunch and snack will be provided each day. If you choose to supply your child with a lunch or a snack from home, please note that we will not be able to refrigerate the food.
Google Classroom: In the event of a school closure due to inclement weather, a scheduled remote day or class quarantine, we will be providing instruction via Google Classroom. Please sign into Google Classroom with your child’s DOE username and password, which is also how you can access your child’s email address.
Meetings: All meetings must be scheduled in advance. Please reach out to us via ClassDojo if you would like to schedule a meeting with your child’s teacher.
Book Baggies: Your child will bring home book baggies each day so they can continue reading at home. All the books must be brought to school each day for our independent reading period. We will swap out books weekly.
Change of Clothes: Please send your child with a change of clothes that will remain in the classroom in a baggie that is labeled with their name.
