Students in 104 are learning how to compare two-digit numbers in different ways through the use of manipulatives and peer interaction. By using tools like base-ten blocks, number lines, and place value charts, students are able to visually represent numbers and understand their value in a hands-on way. Working with peers, they engage in discussions and activities where they compare numbers by looking at tens and ones, helping to build a deeper understanding of place value. This collaborative approach makes learning both interactive and fun, as students actively practice comparing numbers and explaining their reasoning to one another.
Students celebrated their finished “All About” books with their kindergarten friends during a publishing party. They were excited to share their thoughts and ideas, proudly showcasing what they had learned about topics they were passionate about. From animals to hobbies, and everything in between, each student had a unique story to tell. It was a special moment where creativity and learning came together, leaving everyone feeling proud of their hard work!
Students also celebrated the 100th day of school using a mathematical concept of counting by 10’s. Students loved the hands-on activities, such as creating counting charts, grouping items in sets of 10, and practicing skip counting. It was a fun way for them to visualize the number 100, while reinforcing their understanding of number patterns and building a stronger sense of place value. The excitement was infectious as they proudly celebrated reaching the 100th day of school, making learning math both engaging and memorable!
