Bienvenidos Class 012!!
Dear Families,
Hello and welcome! My name is Gabriela Sucuzhanay-Quinones, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this school year.
More Class Details and Important Reminders
A little bit about me: I am entering my 12th year as a teacher and my 8th year here at PS 896. I was fortunate to be one of the very first teachers when our school opened in 2018, and it has been such a joy to grow with this community.
This school year, your children will learn and grow in so many ways—as readers, writers, mathematicians, and friends. Together, we will create a classroom where curiosity, kindness, and collaboration thrive.
One of my top priorities is keeping open communication with families. If any concerns ever arise, I encourage you to reach out to me, and I promise to do the same. My door is always open, and I truly value parent involvement in a child’s education.
Let’s make this a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, and lasting memories!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Physical Ed/Visual arts/Music/Science
Lunch
Phonics (Spanish/English)
Readers Workshop
Writers Workshop
Project Time
Change of Clothes Please send a complete change of clothes—including socks—in a large Ziploc bag with your child’s name. If your child needs to change, remember to replace the extra clothes for the next school day.
Blue Card and Emergency Contacts Each student must have a completed emergency contact card (Blue Card) in our OPEROO app. If your contact information or that of authorized persons changes, please update it immediately. For security reasons, we cannot release children to people who are not on the blue card. The person picking up must bring identification for verification.
Homework/Communication Folder Your child will bring a folder home every day. In it you will find the weekly homework packet (sent every Monday), school updates, and letters that must be returned signed. Please check the folder every night, empty it, and return it the next day.
Lunch The school provides a healthy lunch every day; the menu is available on our website. If you prefer to send your child’s snack or lunch, make sure to send it in a lunchbox or bag marked with their name. Healthy snacks can include fruits, vegetables, yogurt, pretzels, or crackers. Candy or other unhealthy foods will be sent back home with a reminder note. You can also send a water bottle marked with your child’s name.
Athletic Shoes (Sneakers) Children should wear sneakers every day. We are very active and dress shoes or sandals are not safe for our activities.
Toys Please do not allow your children to bring toys from home. We want to avoid personal items getting lost or damaged. In the classroom we have a wide variety of materials for all children to enjoy.
Thank you so much for your support in creating a safe, organized, and joyful classroom! 💛
With love, Ms. S
