Welcome Letter

Dear Beloved PS.896 Families,
Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Ms. Ruiz, and I am incredibly thrilled to be your child’s teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

More class policies and information

We’re going to have a wonderful year full of learning, fun, and new adventures together in our Dual Language program. In our class, we have three main goals:

Learning Two Languages: We want your child to learn and use both Spanish and English. We’ll spend time each day practicing speaking, reading, and writing in both languages so that by the end of the year, your child will feel comfortable using Spanish and English.

Strong Academics: We’ll be learning important skills in reading, writing, math, and more. Our lessons will follow the standards set by New York State to help your child grow in all areas of learning. We’ll do this in both Spanish and English, making sure your child is ready for first grade.

Appreciating Different Cultures: We’ll also learn about the different cultures that speak Spanish. This will help your child understand and respect the traditions and customs of others.

Here’s to an amazing year of learning, laughter, and memories at PS 896. I am truly looking forward to getting to know each family and to being a part of your child’s early educational adventure. I believe that communication between teachers and families is very important for a child’s success in school. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if there’s anything I can do to help.
