🎃 Halloween Fun in Class 3/401! 👻
Our friends in Class 3/401 had a fantastic time celebrating Halloween! Everyone enjoyed the Halloween parade and the trunk-or-treat event. It was so much fun seeing all the creative costumes, collecting treats, and sharing laughter with friends. What a spooktacular day full of smiles and memories! 🎃✨

Reading
In reading, our class will build their knowledge about how people use words to express themselves, with a focus on poetry and letters. We will read texts where authors share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings through words. Students will also write an opinion essay about whether or not words matter.

Writing
In writing, students are beginning a new unit called “Writing to Change the World.” They will start by identifying changes they would like to see in their school, home, or community. Students will then plan and write an argument speech to express their ideas and persuade others to make positive changes.
Math
➗ Math – Grade 3
In math, friends are learning about area, another important attribute of shapes. They will explore how much space a shape covers by comparing and measuring different figures. Friends will use pattern blocks and square tiles to understand that the area of a flat figure is the number of square units that cover it without gaps or overlaps.
✖️ Math – Grade 4
Grade 4 friends are returning to the concept of area to make sense of factors and multiples of numbers. They will find as many pairs of whole-number side lengths as possible for a rectangle with a given area. Friends will then identify those side lengths as factor pairs of the area and understand that the area is a multiple of each side length.
