We recently wrapped up our Trees Unit, where students learned about the parts of a tree, how trees grow and change, and the plants and animals that live around them. We ended the unit with engaging hands-on activities and a delicious celebration. We also celebrated Thanksgiving together with a wonderful potluck, where the children had the chance to try a variety of foods and share a special meal as a class community.

We then began our Buildings Unit. The children explored features of our school building and different buildings in the community, and we even took a neighborhood walk to observe real buildings up close! We’ve also been exploring different building tools—students practiced using hammers to tap golf tees into cardboard boxes, helping them learn how tools work while building fine motor skills. Our friends have also been creating 2D shapes using popsicle sticks, making connections between building and early geometry. Students have been sketching their own homes.

We loved celebrating our first Family Friday, where families joined us to make 3D houses together. We’re now looking forward to our upcoming Family Friday on December 5.
