February was an exciting and active month in Physical Education! Our students worked hard, built new skills, and had lots of fun learning through movement. Here’s a look at what we’ve been practicing!
🏈 Football Skills Unit
With the excitement of the Super Bowl this month, students were motivated during our football unit! Students rotated through stations to maximize movement and skill-building.
Stations Included:
- Throwing Station – Practicing proper grip, stepping with the opposite foot, and aiming at targets.
- Catching Station – Using soft hands, watching the ball into their hands, and teamwork drills.
- Agility Ladder Station – Quick feet drills to improve coordination, balance, and speed.
Learning Objective:
- Demonstrate proper throwing and catching form.
- Improve hand-eye coordination.
- Develop agility, balance, and body control.
- Practice teamwork and sportsmanship.

Using a Stop Watch to time Friends
100th Day of School Fitness Challenge!
Students put their fitness skills to the test by completing as many repetitions as they could in 100 seconds at a variety of activity stations.
Stations:
- Crunches – Strengthening core muscles
- Plank Hold – Testing core stability and focus
- Jump Rope – Improving coordination and cardiovascular fitness
- Push-Ups – Building upper body strength and endurance
- Basketball Dribbling – Enhancing ball control and hand-eye coordination

Speed Stacking Cups (Classroom PE Days)
Students worked on stacking and unstacking cups as quickly as possible while maintaining control and focus. Speed stacking builds brain-body connections and helps improve reaction time!
Learning Objectives:
- Improve hand speed and coordination.
- Strengthen bilateral coordination (using both hands together).
- Develop focus, concentration, and timing.
- Set personal goals and track improvement.

Practice at Home
Here are some fun and easy ways students can continue building their skills at home:
🏈 Football Skills
- Practice throwing and catching with a family member.
- Set up targets (laundry baskets, cones, boxes) to improve aim.
- Create a mini agility ladder using tape or draw one with chalk outside.
- Practice quick feet drills for 20–30 seconds at a time.
Speed Stacking Cups:
- Use plastic cups at home to practice stacking patterns.
- Time yourself and try to beat your personal record.
- Create new stacking patterns and teach a family member.
- Challenge yourself to stack quietly and smoothly with control.
