March 2026 Learning

Phonics: We continue to practice identifying beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words.

Writing: Students are learning how to add more to their writing by adding a page, drawing a picture, labeling their pictures, and writing sentences. To help prepare for our next writing unit, you can ask your child to notice and explain steps in everyday activities. For example: how to make a sandwich, how to take a shower, or how to draw a picture using words like first, next, then, and last.

Reading: We are learning about how to keep our bodies healthy. We read books to discover different categories of healthy foods such as protein, vegetables, dairy, and fruits. Students are also continuing to practice retelling stories and identifying the characters and setting.

Sight Words: Our recent sight words are we, she, he, me, and be. Please check the homework sheet for 3/9/2026 on Google Classroom for the full list of sight words we have learned and practiced. Practicing these words at home will help build your child’s confidence when reading and writing sentences during writing workshop.

Chinese: We practiced greeting phrases such as hello, how are you, sorry, it’s okay, thank you, and you’re welcome. We also learned the pronouns I我,you,你 and you 您(formal form).

Math: Students learned how to make 10 using four strategies: ten frames, finger counting, number bonds, and drawing.
PBL: We are celebrating Women’s History Month. So far, we have learned about Frida Kahlo, Eugenie Clark (the Shark Lady), and Jane Goodall.
