A peek inside our busy, brilliant classroom

Phonics/Reading
This month we dove into one of the most magical rules in reading, the Silent E! Our friends are discovering that when a vowel is followed by a consonant and then the letter e at the end, something amazing happens — the vowel says its long vowel sound and the e stays perfectly silent. Think about how cap turns into cape, or kit becomes kite. Our readers are catching on fast!
Math
We are exploring two digit addition within 100 and the strategy we’re using is making a new ten! Our mathematicians are working hard not just to find the answer, but to explain their thinking clearly by using drawing, numbers or words. Our friends are becoming real mathematical thinkers!
Writing
We kicked off an exciting new writing unit this month: Opinion Writing! Each friend brought in something from their personal collection, and now they are writing about it — sharing their opinion and backing it up with two reasons. We are learning that great writers don’t just say what they think they explain why! From favorite toys to beloved books, the opinions in our classroom are thoughtful, creative, and full of voice.
Women’s History Month Celebration
SPECIAL EVENT
One of the highlights of our month was our Parent Visit Day in honor of Women’s History Month! We celebrated the incredible Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama — famous for her bold, beautiful polka dots and infinity patterns. Our friends and their families came together to create paintings inspired by Kusama’s iconic style. The artwork was stunning, and the energy in our room was unforgettable. Thank you to every family who joined us — it was a truly special day! 🌸
