March was a busy and exciting month in K014, filled with meaningful learning experiences across all subject areas!
In literacy, we focused on practicing vowel sounds and the gestures that help us recognize and produce them. Students worked hard to hear the differences between vowel sounds and learned strategies to differentiate between them. Through songs, movement, and repetition, they are becoming more confident readers and speakers every day.
Our writing workshop introduced a brand-new unit: How-To Writing. To kick off this unit, we took a special field trip to Green Apron, where students learned the step-by-step process of making pizza. This hands-on experience gave them a real-world example of how to explain a process clearly. Back in the classroom, students began writing their own “how-to” pieces, using sequencing words and detailed steps inspired by their trip.
In math, we have been strengthening our problem-solving skills. Students are learning how to respond to word problems by using manipulatives, drawings, and math tools. They are practicing how to show their thinking in different ways, which helps deepen their understanding and build confidence in solving problems independently.

We are so proud of all the hard work and growth we’ve seen in K014 this month. We look forward to continuing our learning journey together in April!
