🎶 June Music Highlights 🎶
Elementary Music Blog | Grades 3K–5
June has been an exciting and musical month! Our students have been singing, moving, playing instruments, and celebrating all they’ve learned this year. Take a look at what each grade has been working on!
🌈 3K
Our youngest musicians explored music through movement, play, and imagination! We sang simple songs, practiced keeping a steady beat, and used scarves and instruments to express how music feels.
We also learned about:
- Fast and slow music
- Loud and soft sounds
- Listening and following directions through songs
🐠 Pre-K
Pre-K students had so much fun singing, dancing, and exploring instruments! They practiced echo singing and learned how to keep a steady beat using rhythm sticks and drums.
This month, we:
- Sang call-and-response songs
- Practiced listening skills through musical games
- Expressed ourselves through creative movement
🎵 Kindergarten
Kindergarten students became confident performers! They practiced singing with clear voices, identifying rhythms, and working together as a class.
Highlights include:
- Learning simple rhythms (ta, ti-ti)
- Singing songs with movement
- Exploring classroom instruments
🎤 Grade 1
First graders continued building their musical skills with rhythm, pitch, and teamwork. They practiced songs that included actions and learned about steady beat and patterns.
This month, they:
- Performed group songs
- Practiced rhythm patterns
- Played classroom instruments together
🥁 Grade 2
Second grade musicians showed great progress in understanding rhythm and musical form! They worked on reading simple rhythms and playing instruments in groups.
Highlights:
- Reading and clapping rhythms
- Playing percussion instruments
- Practicing musical teamwork
🎼 Grade 3
Third graders explored more advanced musical concepts and practiced performing with confidence. They worked on rhythm reading and began understanding musical notation more deeply.
This month:
- Practiced recorder or instrumental skills (if applicable)
- Read and performed rhythms
- Participated in group performances
🎶 Grade 4
Fourth grade students developed their performance skills and musical understanding. They focused on improving accuracy, expression, and teamwork.
We focused on:
- Instrumental practice (recorder or percussion)
- Reading notes and rhythms
- Playing in ensembles
🎺 Grade 5
Our fifth graders wrapped up the year with strong performances and musical confidence! They demonstrated everything they’ve learned, from rhythm and notation to ensemble playing.
Highlights include:
- Group performances
- Instrumental practice
- Preparing for middle school music opportunities
