🎶 May in the Music Room 🎶
May was a joyful and exciting month in our music classroom! Students in every grade explored songs, movement, rhythm, and instruments—and all of their hard work came together in our wonderful Spring Concert, where every grade level performed. We are so proud of all our young musicians!
🎵 3K
Our youngest musicians explored music through play, movement, and listening. We sang simple songs, practiced keeping a steady beat, and used scarves and instruments to express musical ideas.
They especially loved:
- Singing call-and-response songs
- Moving to fast and slow music
- Exploring classroom instruments

🎵 Pre-K
Pre-K students continued building their musical confidence! We practiced singing together, recognizing rhythm patterns, and moving creatively to music.
Highlights include:
- Learning songs for the Spring Concert
- Exploring loud vs. soft sounds
- Using instruments to match different types of music

🎵 Kindergarten
Kindergarten students worked hard on singing clearly and keeping a steady beat. They enjoyed combining movement with music and learning classroom routines as musicians.
This month, students:
- Prepared and performed in the Spring Concert
- Practiced rhythm patterns with instruments
- Learned songs about spring and nature








🎵 1st Grade
First graders developed their musical skills through singing, listening, and playing instruments. They practiced working as an ensemble and following musical directions.
In May, they:
- Performed confidently in the Spring Concert
- Practiced rhythms using percussion instruments
- Learned songs with movements and patterns

🎵 2nd Grade
Second grade had an especially exciting month!
In addition to their Spring Concert performance, students went on a special field trip to Carnegie Hall for the “Musical Explorers” concert. There, they sang and danced along with professional musicians and learned about:
- Ladino music
- Iranian folk music
- Chilean folk music
This was an incredible opportunity to experience music from around the world in a live performance setting!
Back in the classroom, students:
- Practiced concert repertoire
- Explored cultural music traditions
- Continued building rhythm and singing skills












🎵 3rd Grade
Third graders continued to grow as musicians by combining singing, rhythm work, and listening skills.
This month, they:
- Prepared and performed in the Spring Concert
- Practiced more complex rhythm patterns
- Worked on blending their voices as a group



🎵 4th Grade
Fourth graders showed great musical maturity and teamwork this month. They worked on refining their performance skills and taking musical responsibility.
Highlights:
- Strong performance in the Spring Concert
- Practicing ensemble skills and rhythm accuracy
- Engaging in creative musical activities

🎵 5th Grade
Our fifth graders demonstrated leadership and confidence in their final elementary Spring Concert performance. They showed how much they have grown as musicians over the years!
This month, they:
- Delivered a polished Spring Concert performance
- Practiced advanced rhythm and vocal techniques
- Reflected on their musical journey


🌟 Spring Concert Celebration
A huge congratulations to all grades (3K–5) for their participation in the Spring Concert! It was wonderful to see every student shine on stage, sharing their music with families and the school community. Their dedication, practice, and enthusiasm truly made the event special.
