September Highlights in K-014: Learning, Culture & Community ⚽🌎🇵🇷

September was an exciting month of learning, movement, creativity, and cultural celebration in K-014!

Our students participated in a special school soccer event where they learned how to play soccer while celebrating the many cultures around the world that enjoy the sport. Students practiced soccer skills, played together with their classmates, and celebrated the different cultures represented in our school community. They also created flags representing their own cultures and learned about the cultures of others. It was a wonderful way to build teamwork, school community, and appreciation for one another. ⚽🌎

During PBL/Social Studies, K-014 also began celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! Our class chose Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 as the focus of our learning. Students have been exploring Puerto Rican culture through hands-on art and classroom activities.

We created Puerto Rican flags using tearing, gluing, arranging, and other fine-motor skills. Students also learned about the colorful homes found throughout Puerto Rico and created their own bright and beautiful casitas inspired by them. 🏠🎨

Through these experiences, our students are developing their creativity and fine-motor skills while learning that every culture has special traditions, places, and stories worth celebrating.

We are so proud of everything K-014 accomplished in September and are excited to continue our Hispanic Heritage Month learning in October! 💙❤️🤍
