Dear Parents and Guardians
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at P.S. 896, School of Creativity and Innovation. I hope that you and your child had a wonderful summer vacation. My name is Ms. Kerry and I look forward to teaching your child in the K/1 bridge class. I expect that this year will be a rewarding year for your child, and I know that you are excited about all of the new learning opportunities that are about to take place. I wanted to give you some general information about our classroom that will be useful throughout our year together.
- Arrival and Dismissal Procedures– Regular School hours are from 8:30 AM – 2:50 PM. Children who will be joining us for breakfast are to report to school at 8:10-8:25 AM through the school yard entrance. Children who will NOT JOIN us for breakfast will enter through the entrance on 48th and 7th avenue please look for the yellow bulb icon. between 8:30 and 8:35 After 8:20 AM, your child is considered late and must get a late pass from the main office. Students will be dismissed at 2:50pm.
- Please do not allow your child to bring toys from home to school. This often brings confusing to the child thinking they can play with the toy during school hours.
- To facilitate the check-in process please complete the Health Screener PRIOR to arriving at the school. It can be found using the link or scanning the QR code each morning
A typical day in our classroom will look like this:
